The eighteenth (18th) Annual Rockabilly Music Festival comes to Jackson, Tn., on October 6 and 7. Mayor Jerry Gist gives the opening welcome and presents a Patriotic reading. The National Anthem, celebrating the freedoms that we enjoy, will be presented. Dean Ross will lead several inducted members of The International Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame in performing Carl Perkins’ "Blue Suede Shoes”, a song that sent Rockabilly music spiraling around the world. One of the world’s leading historic band leaders, Ace Cannon, will kick off the 18th annual music festival in Jackson, Tn, Floyd Curtis and The Boys from Memphis will present the special rockabilly and rock and roll music which was performed in Memphis.
Clyde Watson, Dean Yancey, Ken McDaniel, and C W Gatlin will join Dean Ross and The Southern Fried Band in performances throughout both evenings.
Tourists from around the world come regularly to visit the International Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame located in Jackson, Tn where Rockabilly music was born.
This year’s festival will be held at the VFW on Airways Boulevard and the Music begins at 7:00 pm each evening.

 Wrapped in an Elvis Presley Beach Towel
Sherrie Boyer and Bobbie Jo Snyder, from Erie Pennsylvania,
after running in a heavy rain, stood soaking wet under the
canopy at the International Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame
in Jackson, Tennessee.
When they opened the door, and entered the building, water dripped from
their drenched clothes.
Elvis Presley’s Beach Towel (taken from his display) was the only
towel in the hall of fame building.
After drying their face, hair and legs they snuggled wrapped in the
Elvis Beach towel from the Elvis Display.

 Tourist friends from Stuttgart, Germany had a delightful tour and they wrote their name
   on the wall!

D. J. Fontana played these drums (see below) at RCA Studio B, in Nashville,
in a recording session of the song "The Last American Rebel"
After the session the drums were donated to Jackson, Tennessee,s
"International Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame".

Elvis Collection adds to Jackson's Tourist Attraction!

Sandra Britt donated a number of major magazines, and pictures,
containing photographs and stories of Elvis Presley
to Jackson, Tennessee's "International Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame".

Her "Elvis Collection" will be featured at the hall of fame beginning Monday,
September 11th, at 10:00 AM. Samples of the pictures are

Donations to the hall of fame will be accepted to help advertise Jackson
as one of Tennessee's music tourist attractions.

Guided tours, which includes special videos made by Johnny Cash, Brenda Lee,
Wanda Jackson, D, J. Fontana, the Jordanaires and other major music artists
are available for a $10.00 donation between 10:00 AM and 5:00 PM daily at the
Hall of fame.

Freedom Certificate

Johnny Cash, General William Westmoreland, Admiral Thomas Moorer and Captain Eugene McDaniel signed a freedom certificate to honor the men and women who served in the United States military in all wars. They met in the Elvis Presley Suite, Crowne Plaza Motel, in Memphis, Tennessee to promote and publicize a special "Freedom Train" which was to tour the United States and honor the United States men and women who served in all wars and allow us to live in freedom today.

This Freedom Certificate was signed in the presence of Henry Harrison, W. S. Holland and Don Hill. It has been donated to "The International Rock-A-Billy Hall of Fame, Inc." by Henry Harrison.
